iGaugeBLE vs Aftermarket stock fuel gauge cost comparison.
We all spend money on what we want to spend money on, right? I know things are crazy expensive these days so incase you’re considering buying a stock VW fuel gauge setup for your pre ‘62 or even wanting a more accurate setup for your ‘62-’77 I have put together a price comparison between a stock setup and an iGaugeBLE kit.
I went to the internet and searched out all the parts needed to build and install a stock fuel gauge setup. I took the highest and the lowest prices on both new and used parts and averaged them out. Labor for painting fluctuates so I went with a medium to low quote I received. I invite you to check these yourself if you like.
Parts and labor for stock setup:
Fuel Tank(‘62 tank with sender hole) $195
Sending Unit $55
Sending unit seal $5.75
Fuel tank outlet $16
OG style analog gauge $75
Dash panel for gauge $20
Paint for dash panel $150
Total parts & paint $ 516.75
Plus Tax (8%) $41.34
Total for Stock Setup: $558.09
Hours to put together, install and trips to the painter: 4-8 hours
iGaugeBLE setup:
iGaugeBLE complete kit $399
Plus Tax (8%) $31.92
Total for iGaugeBLE: $430.92
Hours to install…. about 20 minutes.
This example is for a ‘58-’61 bug:
I also want to point out that the iGaugeBLE kit is absolutely nondestructive to your car with either the ‘58-’61 “Cap-on” kit or with the ‘62-’77 Sender in the stock tank location kit. You can remove the iGaugeBLE kits in minutes if you want that stock look at the show then put it back in minutes for the cruise home. With the stock kit, you will change the stock look of your car and you will still have a inaccurate, bouncy needle gauge that kinda works and with the iGaugeBLE you can maintain the stock look of your car(or show off your hi-tech iGauge all the time) and you will have a fuel gauge you can count on.
For those of you driving a ‘62-’77 VW, I understand you already have a stock gauge but I made the iGaugeBLE kit for all of you as well because I have had a ton of people with your stock setup ask for a kit for their cars just because they were tired of how inaccurate the stock gauges are.
I hope this comparison helps and no matter which year VW you drive, I look forward to building an iGaugeBLE kit for you so you can enjoy the ride!
